Mary E. Reindl Rockwell, 85 of Mason City, passed away Monday, November 4, 2024 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center.
A service to honor her life will be held 1:30pm Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. NE, Mason City, IA 50401. Inurnment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, IA at a later date.
Family will greet friends and relatives beginning at 12pm until the time of the service.
Donations may be directed to St. Jude’s in her memory.
Mary was born August 24, 1939 in Mason City, IA the daughter of William and Genevieve (Marsh) Kerdus. She attended and graduated from Mason City High School. In April of 1973 she married Gary Lee “Rocky” Rockwell in Minnehaha Falls, SD. Mary worked at Country House, Troika, Flame N Embers Supper Club and North End Maid Rite, always with a kind smile, strong will and no need for a notepad while waitressing. She was a longtime Co Owner of Sure Service Heating and Air with Gary and Nate.
Mary brought joy and energy to everything she did. She loved spending time outdoors camping, fishing, and working in her garden, and was happiest when surrounded by her family, including her beloved children, grandchildren, and dog, Mattie. Known for her delicious chocolate chip cookies, Mary also enjoyed cooking and baking for others, as well as a little gambling now and then. Her strong will and fun-loving spirit left a mark on everyone who knew her. She was a true one-of-a-kind, leaving her loved ones with warm memories and a legacy of hard work, resilience, and endless fun.
She is survived by her children, Deb (Dave) Patrick, Mike Reindl, Kathy (Jeff) Reindl, Susan (Rande) Stearns, Steve (Anna) Reindl, and Nate (Jenn) Rockwell; step-children, Allan Rockwell and Tom (Patty) Rockwell; many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Bev Cordes and Barb Dirks; sisters-in-law, Ingrid Rockwell and Ginger Rockwell; and many nieces and nephews.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Gary; parents; grandson, Michael “Mikey” Reindl Jr.; granddaughter, Caitlin Patrick; siblings, Bill (Reta) Kerdus, Robert Kerdus, Richard Kerdus and Carol; step-son, Brian Rockwell; and brothers-in-law, Ben Cordes, Ed Rockwell, and Keith Rockwell.
