MASON CITY — A theft or shoplifting call at a Mason City auto parts store helped police snare a wanted Wisconsin woman who was later held without bond in the Cerro Gordo County Jail.
Mason City police were called at 4:16 p.m. on June 11, 2026, to O’Reilly Auto Parts, 1612 South Federal Avenue, for a theft or shoplifting incident.
Police records show Maribeth Violet Whitewing, 42, was arrested at the scene on an out-of-jurisdiction warrant.

Whitewing (pictured at top) was booked into the Cerro Gordo County Jail at 5:01 p.m. Jail records listed her as being held with no bond.
Court filings in Cerro Gordo County case AMCR034985 show Whitewing made an initial appearance on June 12. The court record notes “Wisconsin warrant” and states “no bond” with further proceedings to be handled by district court.
No local theft or shoplifting charge appears to have been filed in Cerro Gordo County as of the initial court and jail information provided. The police response to O’Reilly Auto Parts, however, appears to have led officers to Whitewing and the out-of-state warrant.
Whitewing’s name also appears in Wisconsin court and arrest records.
According to a report from VC News Review, Maribeth Whitewing, then 41, of Wittenberg, Wisconsin, was sentenced to three years of probation on a felony worthless-checks case involving more than $2,500. The report said Judge Daniel Overbey stayed a sentence of 18 months of confinement and 24 months of extended supervision during the probation period.
The report said restitution of $4,861.91 was ordered, along with court costs totaling $518. It also reported that Whitewing was sentenced in a separate felony methamphetamine possession case, with that three-year probation term ordered to run concurrently.
A separate Chippewa County, Wisconsin, booking record shows Whitewing was booked in September 2025 in a case listing reported charge categories that included weapon law violations, drug/narcotic violations and other offenses. That booking record reflects an arrest only and not a conviction.
The June 11 Mason City arrest now leaves Whitewing facing court proceedings in Iowa tied to the Wisconsin warrant.
A criminal charge or warrant is merely an accusation unless proven in court. Whitewing is presumed innocent on any pending matter unless and until proven guilty.
