CHARLES CITY — A Northern Iowa woman wanted on three Floyd County warrants was nabbed by Charles City police late at night, and officers say the arrest may now lead to additional drug charges after narcotics were seized.
Charles City police conducted a warrant check at approximately 11:50 p.m. on September 7 in the 300 block of Salsbury Avenue.
Officers located 40-year-old Carol Anne Taylor (pictured at top) of Elma and arrested her on three valid Floyd County warrants for failure to appear in court.
Police said the warrants involved two separate counts of driving while barred and one charge of fourth-degree theft.
The encounter apparently created even more trouble for Taylor. Police said narcotics were seized during the arrest and additional charges are pending.
Taylor was booked into the Floyd County Jail shortly after midnight on September 8.
Court records show the fourth-degree theft case stems from an alleged May 26, 2026 offense. Fourth-degree theft is a serious misdemeanor in Iowa. A public/bench warrant was issued in that case in July after Taylor failed to appear, with bond set at $300 cash only.
Her two driving-while-barred cases stretch back even further.
In one case, Taylor is accused of driving while barred on January 24, 2026. Driving while barred is an aggravated misdemeanor. Court records show Taylor filed a written guilty plea in July, but a bench warrant was later issued after another failure to appear. That warrant carried a $2,000 cash-or-surety bond. It was served following her September 8 arrest, and a sentencing hearing is now scheduled for October 9.
Taylor is also facing another aggravated misdemeanor driving-while-barred case stemming from an October 23, 2025 incident. A bench warrant was issued in that case in July with a $2,000 cash-or-surety bond. Court records now show a pretrial conference scheduled for October 9 and a jury trial set for October 29.
Taylor also has previous criminal court history in Floyd County. She was originally charged with second-degree theft, a Class D felony, in a 2022 case. She ultimately pleaded guilty in 2024 to the reduced charge of fourth-degree theft and received jail time, a fine and probation. Court records show her probation was later revoked and terminated in 2025.
More recently, Taylor pleaded guilty in June 2026 to contempt of court for violating a no-contact or protective order.
Charles City police have made a number of warrant-related arrests in recent months. In another case reported by NIT, a warrant check in Charles City led to the arrest of a suspect accused of assault and indecent exposure.
Police have not yet announced what additional charges, if any, Taylor will face in connection with the narcotics allegedly seized during her latest arrest.
Criminal charges that have not resulted in convictions are accusations only. Taylor is presumed innocent of those charges unless and until proven guilty in court.
