CHARLES CITY — A local teenager is in custody following an evening warrant check that led to charges involving alleged sexual misconduct. On April 13, 2026, at approximately 6:48 p.m., officers with the Charles City Police Department conducted a warrant check in the 800 block of Allison Street. As a result of the check, 18-year-old Cam Davidson Grubbs of Charles City was taken into custody on two outstanding Floyd County warrants.
The warrants relate to an incident alleged to have occurred on April 8, 2026. Grubbs has been charged with assault with intent to commit sexual abuse, an aggravated misdemeanor, and indecent exposure, which is classified as a serious misdemeanor. Court records indicate that Judge Ann M. Troge issued the order for the warrants on the day of the arrest.
Grubbs (pictured at top) was subsequently jailed and is currently being held in the Floyd County Jail on a $3,000 cash-only bond. The court has appointed a public defender to represent Grubbs as the case moves forward. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for April 24, 2026, at 11:45 a.m. to address the allegations.
