CLEAR LAKE — Steven H. “Steve” Dockstader, 66, of Clear Lake, died of natural causes Thursday, September 10, 2026, one day before his 67th birthday, and is remembered for his courage, quick wit and devotion to family.
The family will hold a private graveside service at a later date. Steve’s final resting place will be Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City.
Steve was born September 11, 1959, in Mitchell, South Dakota, the son of Darrell U. and Janet Dockstader. He was raised in Clear Lake from kindergarten age and developed a love of sports while also excelling academically.
He graduated from Ventura High School in 1978 and later served in the United States Air Force.
After returning home, Steve worked at Winnebago Industries until he became disabled. His family remembered the challenges he faced over the years and the courage and determination he showed in dealing with them.
When he was feeling well, Steve was known as a jokester with a quick wit, often ready with a new joke or a sharp response that could make those around him laugh.
Steve is survived by his mother, Janet; brothers Daniel (Connie) Dockstader of Lebanon, Illinois, Scott (Maureen) Dockstader of Ames, and Matthew Dockstader of Kansas City, Missouri; sister Jackie (Scott Schmitt) Bailey of Waverly; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Darrell Dockstader, and his brother, William John Dockstader.
