SPIRIT LAKE — William “Bill” Schug, 84, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories for the family, friends and others who knew him.
A memorial service celebrating Bill’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2026, at Life360 in Founder’s Hall at the Okoboji Bible Conference, 7 U.S. Highway 71 in Arnolds Park.
Bill was born July 25, 1942, and his life stretched across more than eight decades of tremendous change in Iowa and across the country. Through those years came the relationships, experiences and everyday moments that become the lasting pieces of a person’s story.
Those memories will take center stage when loved ones gather in Arnolds Park to remember Bill and mark the life he shared with them.
The memorial service offers family and friends an opportunity to come together, reflect on the years they knew him and celebrate the place he held in their lives.
Bill’s published obituary is brief, leaving many of the details of his 84 years where they often belong most naturally — in the stories, photographs and memories carried by the people who knew him personally.
He will be remembered in Spirit Lake and the Iowa Great Lakes community as those closest to him gather to say goodbye and honor the life behind a familiar name.
