MASON CITY — Judy Kaye Newman, 69, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at her home in Mason City.

Following Judy’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held.

Judy was born March 12, 1957, in Cleburne, Texas, the daughter of Willy and Anna Mae (Winkler) Newman. She grew up in Texas before making her way to Iowa as an adult and building a life in Mason City.

A dedicated worker, Judy spent more than 25 years employed at Masonite in Mason City.

Judy met Pat Vosburgh, and together they welcomed their son, Martin. Motherhood was an important part of Judy’s life, and she treasured the time she shared with Martin. When he was younger, the two enjoyed taking trips to waterparks, where they created many fun and lasting memories together.

Those who knew Judy will remember a brutally honest woman who was never afraid to say exactly what was on her mind. Beneath that direct personality was a deeply caring heart. She frequently prayed for people who needed support and kept others close in her thoughts.

Judy was also a wonderful cook who became especially known for her enchiladas and goulash. A true foodie, she loved sampling unfamiliar dishes, visiting different places and experiencing something new.

In quieter moments, Judy enjoyed playing games on her phone. She also appreciated the outdoors, camping and spending time with the people around her.

Judy will be remembered for her honesty, caring nature, memorable cooking and the many experiences she shared with family and friends.

Those left to cherish Judy’s memory include her son, Martin Vosburgh; significant other, Patrick Vosburgh; stepchildren, Porscha, Amber, Malina, Christopher and Anna; siblings, Willie, Emmet, Charlie and Angela; and many extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willy and Anna Mae Newman, and her brother, David.
