HAMPTON — Dick Rodgers, 84, of Hampton, died Saturday, September 12, 2026, at his home under the care of St. Croix Hospice. He is remembered for his enjoyment of fishing, games with friends and teaching his great-grandsons to hunt and fish.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 25, at Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory, 306 Central Ave. East in Hampton.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the service. Dick will be laid to rest alongside his wife, Virginia, at Hillside Cemetery in Sheffield.
Dickie Thomas Rodgers was born April 12, 1942, in Iowa Falls to Kenneth and Mary Ann (Palmby) Rodgers. He attended school in Bradford.
He married Virginia Jobe on September 15, 1962, in Canton, South Dakota.
Dick enjoyed fishing and auto racing, playing bingo and the lottery, and gathering with friends for cribbage.
Time with his great-grandsons, Cylver and Declynn, was especially meaningful to him. He shared his interest in the outdoors with them, teaching them to hunt and fish and enjoying their activities together.
Dick is survived by his daughter, Debbie Collins of Hampton; grandson, Jeremy Rodgers of Hampton; granddaughter, Stephanie Collins of Waterloo; great-grandsons, Declynn (Melany) Woods of Greene and Cylver (Makenna) Woods of Fairbank; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Virginia, four brothers and grandson Stephen Collins.
