MASON CITY – A Wednesday auto crash in Mason City caused thousands of dollars in damage, police tell NIT.

Mason City police chief Jeff Brinkley says a crash occurred on November 28, 2018, at 11:30 AM at 4th Street SW and S Pierce Ave. Aase Graham, age 65, Mason City, was driving eastbound on 4th Street SW. Junice Prince, age 84, Kensett, was driving westbound on 4th Street SW. Richard Rasmussen, age 71, of Plymouth, was driving a transit bus and stopped northbound on Pierce at a red light. Damage to Graham’s vehicle was listed at $5,000, Prince’s vehicle was $4,000, and there was no damage estimated to the transit bus.

The driver of the white van told an NIT reporter, “I was going that way (east bound) and she was turning.  We both had green lights, but she was supposed to yield.”
The crash happened shortly after snow began to fall and wind picked up.  Folks on the transit bus involved in the crash were removed and put on different buses that arrived at the scene.

Prince was cited for failure to yield on a left turn.

No one was transported to the hospital for injuries, Chief Brinkley said.

Maybe it’s time to stop driving, and take the bus.
