ESTHERVILLE — Carrie Sue Johnson, 64, of Estherville, died Friday, September 11, 2026, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Methodist Campus, following what her family described as a brief and courageous battle with aggressive cancer.
A funeral service celebrating Carrie’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 16, at the United Methodist Church, 900 N. Highway, in Jackson, Minnesota.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 15, at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville. Visitation will continue for one hour before Wednesday’s funeral service at the church in Jackson.
Carrie was born June 24, 1962, and spent her final years as a resident of Estherville.
Her battle with cancer was short, but those remembering Carrie have emphasized the courage with which she faced the aggressive disease.
A memorial tree has already been planted in her honor, and one tribute shared following her death offered a simple description of the woman friends and loved ones are mourning: Carrie was “a beautiful person.”
Carrie will be laid to rest at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Estherville following the funeral service.
The family has asked that memorials be given in Carrie’s memory in lieu of flowers.
