FREMONT COUNTY – Tragedy struck in this small Iowa town when an elderly Iowa man was was fatally ran over by an elderly Missouri driver.
On January 25, 2024, at approximately 6:06 PM, a vehicle pedestrian fatality crash occurred near the intersection of Main Street and E Street in Hamburg, Iowa. A 77-year-old Hamburg resident was carrying items to his vehicle from a local community center and was struck by a passing vehicle. The male party was declared deceased at a nearby hospital.
The driver of the vehicle, a 2001 Ford F150 was identified as 77-year-old Nancy Bartles of Rock Port, Missouri. Bartles was uninjured.
The incident is being investigated by the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office and the name of the pedestrian is being withheld pending notification of the family. Hamburg Fire and Rescue responded to the call.
