CHARLES CITY — Deborah “Deb” Anne Freebury, a Charles City woman whose final wishes called for a quiet goodbye, has died at age 74.

Freebury passed away Saturday, June 13, 2026, at home with her loving husband by her side.

She was born October 30, 1951.

According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services.

For family and friends, Freebury’s passing marks the loss of a woman whose life was known most personally by those closest to her. A quiet farewell does not make a life less meaningful. It simply reflects the wishes of someone whose memory will now be carried in private stories, family moments and the hearts of those who loved her.

In communities like Charles City, such losses are felt in personal ways — around kitchen tables, through old photographs, in conversations among relatives and friends, and in the daily reminders of a life shared.

Freebury’s loved ones now mourn her passing while honoring her wishes for simplicity and peace.
