Alvin Stika, 75, dies; Nashua man leaves legacy of family, work and humor

NASHUA — Alvin Joseph Stika, a Nashua man remembered for hard work, devotion to family and a warm sense of humor, has died at age 75. Stika passed away peacefully Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Whispering Willow Senior Living in Fredericksburg.

NASHUA — Alvin Joseph Stika, a Nashua man remembered for hard work, devotion to family and a warm sense of humor, has died at age 75.

Stika passed away peacefully Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Whispering Willow Senior Living in Fredericksburg.

He was born January 23, 1951, in Cresco, to Edmund and Edith Komarek Stika. His life was shaped by the values often found in rural Iowa families — steady work, loyalty to loved ones and the ability to find humor even in ordinary days.

For those who knew Stika, his passing marks the loss of a man whose presence was felt through family ties, friendships and the memories built across a lifetime in northeast Iowa.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 22, 2026, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Nashua, with Deacon Michael Ward celebrating the service.

Cody Stika, Casey Stika, Chad Lechtenberg, Connor O’Donnell, Bradley Dahl and Grady Sabelka will serve as pallbearers. Grant Balk will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Friends are invited to greet the family from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, June 21, 2026, at Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory – Olson Chapel in Nashua. Visitation will continue one hour before the service at the church on Monday.

In communities like Nashua, a life such as Stika’s is remembered through stories shared by family, old friends, neighbors and those who worked alongside him. His legacy will continue in the memories of those who knew his humor, respected his work ethic and loved him as family.
