ORCHARD — Phillip Eugene Scott, a longtime Orchard man whose life centered on family, work, gardening and the land he cared for, has died at age 79.

Scott passed away on June 12, 2026, at his home in Orchard.

He was born July 29, 1946, in Mason City, to Eldo and Jene Scott. He grew up in the area and graduated from Osage High School in 1964. Later in life, he continued his education at Southwest Wisconsin Technical College, where he completed an electromechanical program in 1995.

In April 1967, Scott married Elaine Chinnery. Together, they raised three daughters and built a family life rooted in the Orchard community.

Scott worked in farming, printing and manufacturing over the years. Those different lines of work reflected a practical, steady and hands-on approach to life. He was the kind of man who understood machinery, soil, animals and the satisfaction that comes from work done well.

Outside of work, Scott enjoyed gardening and animal husbandry. He could often be found outdoors, tending land and animals, and taking pride in the home and life he created. He also supported youth activities, helping with 4-H alongside his wife.

Scott is survived by his wife, Elaine Scott of Orchard; his daughters, Julie Scott of Orchard and Tricia Gammons of Milton, Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Tyree Edge, Jorvik Gammons, Magnus Gammons and Wulfgar Gammons; and his siblings, Elaine Caughron, Betty Klein, Eldon Scott, Kevin Scott and Patricia Evans.

He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Jacqueline Jene Marie Scott Edge.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Orchard Congregational Church in Orchard. Burial will follow at Orchard Cemetery. A reception will be held at the Legion in Orchard.
