Rebecca “Becky” O’Green, 75, of Mason City, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 26, 2026.
Arrangements are pending, with additional service information to be announced at a later date by Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapels in Mason City.
Becky was born February 6, 1951, in Mason City, the daughter of Arthur and Arlene (Walter) O’Green. She attended Mason City schools and earned her GED in 1969. She soon began raising the four children who would remain at the center of her life: Shelly, Dawn, Arthur and Heather.
After devoting much of her younger adult life to caring for her children, Becky decided to pursue something for herself when her oldest child entered high school. She attended LaJames School of Beauty during the 1980s, learned hairstyling and eventually opened a home-based salon, Becky’s Family Hair Care.
A new chapter began in 1988 when Becky moved to Florida and went to work at the Grand Floridian Resort. Her career eventually took her into hairstyling and makeup services at Walt Disney World, including work at Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Epcot.
Becky spent 25 years in Florida before retiring in 2017 and returning to Mason City to be closer to her family.
Retirement gave Becky more opportunities to enjoy some of her favorite things, including bingo, casinos and slot machines. One of her greatest pleasures was sitting in the stands and cheering for her grandsons at their hockey games. She also participated in bridge clubs and was a lifelong member of the Mason City Women’s Auxiliary Club.
Friendship was another important part of Becky’s life. She enjoyed gathering with a special circle of friends for coffee, conversation, laughter and plenty of good-natured gossip. The group became affectionately known as the “Gossip Group.”
Becky was strong-willed, outspoken and rarely hesitant to share exactly what she thought. Beneath that determined personality was a woman deeply devoted to her family. Her children and grandchildren were a tremendous source of pride, and being there for those she loved mattered greatly to her.
She is survived by her children, Shelly (Matt) Paulsen, Dawn Johnson, Arthur “Art” (Sharon) Westendorf and Heather (Bobby Lee) Williams; grandchildren Matthew (Amanda) Paulsen, Mike (Mandy) Paulsen, Mitch (Rachel) Paulsen, Casey Johnson (John Brower), Luke Johnson, Jordan (Fabiola) Westendorf, Austin (Mariana) Westendorf, Mandy (Kevin) Vilches, David (Keran) Susa, Angelina Conti (Austin Murphy), Nicholas Conti, Cailee Williams and Alyssa Williams; numerous great-grandchildren; her faithful companions, Coco and Peanut; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Art and Arlene O’Green, and her sisters, Sharon (George) Newman and Carolee (Ron) Kissel.
