NEW HAMPTON — Delores Grove, 84, of New Hampton, passed away Monday, September 21, 2026, at Accura HealthCare of New Hampton with her loving family by her side.
A funeral service for Delores will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 25, at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton, with Pastor Dan Christensen officiating. Burial will follow at New Hampton Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the start of the service Friday at the church.
Delores Edna (Costello) Grove was born September 29, 1941, in New Hampton, the daughter of Derwood and Edna (Bearman) Costello. She grew up in the area and graduated from Nashua High School in 1959.
On January 23, 1960, Delores married James “Jim” Grove in Mason City. Together they built a life centered around family, farming and their two sons, Steve and Scott. Delores embraced life as a devoted farm wife and caring mother while also becoming known for her strong work ethic and outgoing personality.
Over the years, Delores held several jobs in the area and enjoyed working with the public. Her final employment was with Northeast Iowa Community Action.
Delores was a social person who enjoyed gatherings and welcoming people into her home. She took pride in keeping her home immaculate and enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. Scotcheroos, pies and homemade candy were among her specialties.
She also had a talent for sewing and spent many happy hours tending her vegetable and flower gardens. Her ability to create, grow and care for things reflected the same attention she gave to the people around her.
Above all else, family was at the center of Delores’ life. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren held an especially important place in her heart, and the years spent surrounded by generations of family created memories that will remain with those who loved her.
Delores is survived by her husband, Jim Grove; sons Steve (Vicki) Grove and Scott (Brenda) Grove; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters Darlene (Bob) Ayers, Duenda (Leonard) Zwanziger and Linda (Richard) Lindner; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother; her parents-in-law, Glenn and Alice Grove; two great-grandchildren, Eli Grove and Atlas Somers; and her sister, Gloria Meyer.
