MASON CITY – Mason City police today confirmed that a Clear Lake woman NIT earlier reported was missing was indeed the person found deceased on a Mason City sidewalk.
NIT reported this weekend that a woman was found on a Mason City sidewalk at the 1400 block of 4th Street SW at 10:42 PM on January 7. She was unresponsive and later pronounced deceased.
Today, Mason City police confirmed the deceased woman is 31-year-old Vanessa Ane Swalve. They say once she was found, she was taken by fire medics to Mercy Hospital and later pronounced dead.
Police say the death is not suspicious, but an investigation is being conducted at this time.

Vanessa Swalve was involved in an accident in Clear Lake on Thursday, November 12, 2015. The car she was driving crashed into a garage at a house located at the corner of 4th Avenue South and South 9th Street. She was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Mason City after the accident.
Swalve was reported missing to the Clear Lake Police Department on December 19, 2015.
She was never missing, why do you keep saying this. Extremely irresponsible reporting, if you ask me.
She was arrested for an OWI on Dec. 2.
Sad ending. This woman had some issues that aren’t being made public. Prayers for the family.
A person is reported missing. She is then found dead on a sidewalk . They don’t consider that suspicious? Not to mention she crashed her car into a house prior to this.
