IOWA FALLS — Sharon Mulford-Henson, 80, of Iowa Falls, died Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at the Village of Ackley after living courageously with ALS.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 10, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 313 Lee Lane in Iowa Falls.
A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Sharon will be laid to rest at Union Cemetery in Iowa Falls following the service.
The family respectfully requests no flowers. Those wishing to express their sympathy may consider memorials to the Church Women United Thrift Store in Iowa Falls.
Sharon was born October 10, 1945, to Leo and Helen Neubauer. She built a life grounded in faith, family, friendship, hard work and service, always carrying with her a quiet determination to look ahead.
She married Dick Mulford in 1964, and together they welcomed two sons, Chad and Joel. Sharon married Bill Henson in 2012, beginning another treasured chapter of love and companionship.
A lifelong Iowa Falls resident, Sharon devoted much of her life to the community she called home. Her working years included serving as a florist at King’s Flowers and holding positions at Laneville Optometry, Surratt Publishing, Craig’s Pharmacy, the Times Citizen and Farm Bureau.
She also spent 25 years at Riverside Book & Bible. At Highland Country Club, Sharon helped make weddings, golf outings and other special occasions memorable. She brought creativity, dependability and sincere care for others to every place she worked.
Faith remained at the center of Sharon’s life. At Immanuel Lutheran Church, she served as president of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and Ladies’ Aid, church secretary and a confirmation and Bible school teacher.
Her service extended far beyond the offices she held. Sharon shared her faith through her teaching, her actions and the kindness with which she treated others. She wanted those around her to know the Lord she loved.
Sharon enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe, but the people who shared those experiences with her always mattered more than the destination. Her family and friends meant everything to her, and her grandchildren were among her greatest joys.
She gave those she loved her time, encouragement and loyalty, leaving them with the lasting knowledge that they mattered deeply to her.
When life became difficult, Sharon did not dwell on what had been lost. She looked for what remained good, found the next step and continued moving forward. Her optimism reflected a daily decision to face hardship with gratitude, courage and grace.
Sharon is survived by her sons, Chad and Sinda Mulford and Joel Mulford; Elizabeth Mulford; nephew Jeff and Stacy Mulford; Mike and Wendy Cooper; grandchildren Travis and Toni Woodley, Megan Mulford, Maverick Mulford, Isabella Mulford and Chloe Mulford; brother Dennis Neubauer; brother-in-law Bob Mulford; many nieces, nephews and extended family members; her church family; Edna Lyman; and other dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Helen Neubauer; husbands Dick Mulford and Bill Henson; sister-in-law Rosalie Neubauer; brother-in-law Ronald Mulford; and parents-in-law Richard and Betty Mulford.
Sharon’s legacy lives on through the people who felt welcomed, encouraged and loved because of her, the church she faithfully served and the family and friendships she treasured.
Her family finds comfort in knowing that Sharon is with the Lord she loved and so dearly wanted others to know—and that she is singing in heaven.
Sharon spent her life looking forward. Now, in faith, her family trusts that the path has led her home.
