MASON CITY – A man and a wanted woman were sniffed out in the act of allegedly burglarizing a storage unit in Mason City, caught at the scene and jailed.
On Friday, August 21, 2020, at approximately 12:16 AM, officers with the Mason City Police Department responded to A1 Security Self Storage, 4067 South Federal Avenue, for a report that two intruders were seen on security camera, on the property, and possibly breaking into the storage units. When officers arrived on scene, they located a storage unit missing a padlock. Officers opened the storage unit and located Shelly Ann Hitchcock, age 40, of Rockwell, IA, and Thomas Bernard Hitchcock, age 48, of Mason City, IA, inside. Neither knew the owner of the storage unit.
Thomas Hitchcock was arrested, and charged with Possession of burglar tools, and 3rd Degree Burglary, and Violation of a No-Contact order. Shelly Hitchcock was arrested, and charged with 3rd Degree Burglary, and a valid arrest warrant.
The Mason City Police Department is continuing to investigate this incident and the public is requested to contact the department if they have any information related to this case.

It is just sickening how these animals are existing around normal society only to steal and mooch and be harmful to the well being of people who work and abide by the law. Look at these animals, you can’t convince me this is the first time the have been arrested. People should not have to tolerate this scum. If they can’t keep their slim ey paws off other people’s property, lock them up. They are not going to change. Let them live in cages like the animals they are.
