Betty J. Pierson, 85, of Mason City, died Friday afternoon, September 13, 2024, at her home.
Visitation will be held from 11:30am-1:30pm, Friday, September 20, 2024, at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 2nd St. SE, Mason City. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 1:30pm. Her son-in-law, Mike Rohrer, will be leading the service. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.
Betty was born to Joe and Helen (Sader) Kasik. She graduated from Mason City High School one year before her high school sweetheart, George Pierson. They were united in marriage in 1959 at the First United Methodist Church in Mason City and were blessed with four children. Over the years, Betty worked as a legal secretary and kept the books for her husband’s business, P&R Trash Service. She also bartended at the family-owned business, Kozy Korner, before she and George purchased the establishment in 1995 from Irene, George’s mother.
Betty was an avid bowler for many years, competing in National Bowling Association tournaments across the country. She enjoyed her annual Lunker Club couples and family fishing trips to Ear Falls, Ontario. In later years, she and George frequently ventured to the River Boat Casino in Marquette along the Mississippi River.
One of Betty’s favorite pastimes was watching HER Orioles, HER hummingbirds, HER ducks, and HER deer as they wandered into her yard. In the fall, Betty’s cheers for the Minnesota Vikings could be heard from across town. Fall also meant canning stewed tomatoes and tomato juice to share with her family and friends.
Betty was a classy lady who never missed her weekly hair or nail appointments. Above all, she was the heart of her home. Caring for her family was her greatest passion. Betty always prepared her family delicious, home-cooked meals, and no one ever went home empty-handed. Every holiday her home was filled with festive decorations, her special touch bringing warmth and joy to each occasion.
Those left to cherish memories of Betty are her four children, Scott (Jessica) Pierson, Traci (Mike) Rohrer, Sarah Runge (Steve Sberal), and Leslie Pierson; grandchildren, Ben Pierson, Alex Pierson (Jenny Jensen), Breanna (Jeremy) Johnson, Rachel (Stephen) Lange, Jeri Sberal (Karley Lampman), Sara (Shawn) Cox, Erin (Bryan) Sanderson, Alicia Runge (Steve Fields), Kayla Runge, Stephanie Runge (Kaitlin Heinricy), and Dalton Pierson (Dani McLaughlin); 18 beautiful great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Dolly Ballard and brother-in-law, Larry (Barb) Pierson; her beloved Schnoodle, Schado; and many other dearly loved family and friends.
