WEST DES MOINES – An Iowa man racing through Des Moines crashed into a bridge over the Interstate, claiming his life.
Officers from the West Des Moines Police Department responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on Interstate 80 at 9:32 AM on July 15, 2023. Preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed, left the roadway in the 7400 block, and struck the Jordan Creek Bridge over Interstate 80. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle died as a result of injuries suffered in the crash. At this time, it is not believed any other vehicles were involved.
The driver involved in this fatal crash has been identified as Thomas Edward Davis, age 37, of Des Moines.
