Person injured by stray bullet while sleeping in Iowa house

CEDAR RAPIDS - A person was shot by a stray bullet while sleeping in a house in Iowa's second-largest city, and then hospitalized.

CEDAR RAPIDS – A person was shot by a stray bullet while sleeping in a house in Iowa’s second-largest city, and then hospitalized.

Cedar Rapids Police are investigating a Saturday night shooting that has sent one person to the hospital.

Officers and Investigators were called the 1100 block of 32nd Street NE at approximately 10:54 PM on Saturday, July 15, 2023 for the report of shots fired. They discovered a home had been shot several times and a victim sleeping inside was struck by one of the bullets.

The victim was treated on-scene and transported to a local hospital and reported to be in stable condition.

There is an active, ongoing investigation by police.
