MASON CITY — Lyle John Paine, 75, of Mason City, died Sunday, September 20, 2026, leaving behind his wife, siblings, stepdaughters, grandchildren and a wide circle of relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 26, at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third Street NE in Mason City. Visitation will be held at the chapel for one hour before the service, beginning at 10 a.m.
Lyle was born June 6, 1951.
His family stretched well beyond North Iowa. Lyle is survived by his wife, Susan Paine of Mason City, along with stepdaughter Lisa Rheinberg and Alex Panton of London and stepdaughter Lori Lewis and her husband, Douglas, of Fort Worth, Texas.
He is also remembered by five stepgrandchildren: Benjamin, Alexandra and Harrison, along with Julie and Jeremiah.
Lyle’s surviving siblings include Leo Paine of Texas; Leland Paine and his wife, Nancy, of Mason City; Lila McCollum of Mason City; and Leona Livingston and her husband, David, of Texas.
Other surviving family members include his mother-in-law, Margot Borcherding of Hampton; sister-in-law Karin Malloy and her husband, David, of Williamsburg; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Lyle was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Paine; brother-in-law Timothy McCollum; and father-in-law Wilbert Borcherding.
Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapels, Crematory and Cemetery of Mason City is caring for the family.
