WEST UNION – When this Northern Iowa desperado failed at out-driving cops, she tried to run fast, but law enforcement brought a quick end to her attempt to avoid time behind bars.

On February 25, 2026, at approximately 9:09 PM, a Fayette county deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Highway 150 in West Union, Iowa. While attempting to stop the vehicle, the vehicle fled into a local business where the driver attempted to flee on foot. After further investigation, the driver, 45-year-old Flora Mae Epley of Waucoma, Iowa, was placed under arrest for Driving while License Denied, Suspended, Canceled, or Revoked & Interference with Official Acts, both simple misdemeanors.

Epley (pictured at top) was transported to the Fayette County Jail where she was held for her initial appearance.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the West Union Police Department, Monona Police Department K9, and Torkelson Auto.
