Lorrine Kenney, 94 of Burt, passed away Sunday, September 15, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society in Algona. Services for Lorrine are pending. Services have been entrusted to Lentz Funeral Home of Burt.
Lorrine Frances Kenney, daughter of Frank and Elda (Camp) Proctor, was born August 14, 1930, at home in Atalissa, Iowa. Lorrine was the oldest of 12 children with three sisters still living: Kay, Donna and Shirlee. She graduated from High School then attended Western Union training program. Lorrine was united in marriage to Lester “Bud” Kenney of Riverside Iowa. She was a longtime employee for Western Union and finished her career working as a medical transcriptionist for the VA Hospital in Iowa City and then at Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona until her retirement at the age of 79.

Left to cherish Lorrine’s memory are her children: Kathleen (Craig Giddings) Kenney of Burt and Gerry Kenney of Riverside; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters: Kay, Donna, and Shirlee and other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and eight siblings. Memory loss is a thief, robbing us of a vibrant, witty loved one.
