MASON CITY – A Mason City man with a long criminal history was recently accused by police of manufacturing methamphetamines.
Andrew Ray Lukes, age 37, was arrested by Mason city police on the evening of May 14, 2018, after an apparent traffic stop. He was charged with manufacturing up to 5 KG of methamphetamines, no drug tax stamp, driving without a license, and interference with official acts. He’s been in the county jail ever since, held on $25,000 cash-only bond.
Lukes has been granted a public defender; he will be arraigned on June 12. Cerro Gordo county prosecutor Steven Tenant introduced Lukes’ criminal history into court, records show. Lukes has been sent to prison at least four times and paroled after short stays in Iowa lockups. His latest trip to the slammer was back in 2016, after Lukes wrote a $10,000 check for a car in Cerro Gordo county and the seller went to cash the check and shockingly, the account the check was written from was closed. He also committed lottery fraud in Hancock county.

He sure learned his lesson. Let Bodacious reform him.
