CHARLES CITY – A house fire chased the occupants out of the structure as firefighters fought the blaze to contain its spread.

Early on the morning of June 14, 2024, at 1:36 AM, the CCFD along with Floyd Volunteer Fire Department and Colwell Fire were paged to a fire at a residence on the 300 block of 9th Avenue.

“Prior to arrival, we were notified that all occupants of the home were able to escape unharmed. Once on scene crews made entry into the home and were able to quickly knockdown and extinguish the flames preventing it from spreading to other areas of the home. After overhaul, to ensure the home was safe, crews were able to pack up tools and return to their respective stations and return to service.

“Thank you to our mutual aid partners and Charles City Police Department for the help this morning,” the department said after the incident.
