MASON CITY — A Mason City man on the Iowa Sex Offender Registry for enticing teenage girls has been convicted of drunken driving and multiple drug possession charges stemming from an Iowa State Patrol traffic stop earlier this year.
Samuel Audiel Leider, 32, pleaded guilty in Cerro Gordo County District Court to operating while under the influence, second offense, and possession of marijuana following his Jan. 27, 2026, arrest by the Iowa State Patrol. Court records show he was sentenced on April 3 after entering a negotiated guilty plea.
Judge Adam Sauer sentenced Leider to seven days in jail on the OWI conviction and two days in jail on the marijuana conviction. He was also fined $1,875, and his driver’s license was revoked as required under Iowa law. Court records further show that he later entered into a county attorney payment plan after falling behind on court-ordered financial obligations.
Jail records show Leider reported to the Cerro Gordo County Jail on April 23, 2026, to serve his sentence. The booking included the OWI conviction along with multiple marijuana possession counts.
The latest convictions add to Leider’s lengthy criminal history involving crimes against children.
Leider is a registered Iowa sex offender because of two separate convictions for enticing minors.
In Cerro Gordo County, he was originally charged in 2019 with enticing a child under 16 for a sexual purpose. As part of a plea agreement, he pleaded guilty on July 1, 2020, to the reduced charge of attempted enticing a minor under 16, an aggravated misdemeanor. He received a suspended two-year prison sentence, two years of probation, was ordered to register as a sex offender, submit a DNA sample and pay a fine.
In a separate Hardin County case, Leider pleaded guilty on Sept. 15, 2020, to enticing a minor under 16 for a sexual purpose. Prosecutors dismissed more serious charges that had included sexual exploitation of a minor, third-degree sexual abuse and lascivious acts with a child as part of the plea agreement. He received a suspended five-year prison sentence and five years of probation. Court records later show he admitted violating probation in 2022 and was ordered to re-enroll in treatment.
According to the Iowa Sex Offender Registry, Leider’s qualifying convictions involved female victims between the ages of 14 and 17 in Cerro Gordo and Hardin counties.
North Iowa Today previously reported on Leider’s original Cerro Gordo County arrest in 2019, when he was accused of attempting to entice a child. Readers can learn more about that case here.
The recent OWI and drug convictions illustrate Leider’s continued involvement with the criminal justice system years after the child enticement cases that placed him on Iowa’s Sex Offender Registry.

You funny Chuck
Are you seriously denying that Donny knew Epstein? And went to the island? And ‘dated’ some of his girls?
Who really cares ? At least they were girls on the island instead of little boys.
