MASON CITY – A man is in jail for allegedly driving drunk and crashing his car with two kids inside, causing them to be injured.
According to the Cero Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, at about 7 PM Saturday night, Jeremiah Jon Corcoran, age 34, of Nora Springs, had crashed his car on 230th Street about half a mile west of Olive Avenue. Mason City emergency responders went to the scene to assist the sheriff’s deputies.
At the scene, Mason City Fire Firefighters were checking nearby railroad tracks. They first brought a small child to a gurney and put him into the ambulance, and shortly after anther child, wrapped in a blanket was walking with a firefighter toward the ambulance.
Logan Corocoran, age 8, and Liam Corocoran, age 3, were both injured and taken to Mercy Hospital.
Jeremiah Corocoran was arrested for operating while intoxicated and two counts o child endangerment. He was held on $5,000.00 cash bond.
