Mail carrier hurt in accident north of Clear Lake Sunday night

RURAL CERRO GORDO COUNTY – A Northern Iowa mail carrier was hurt Sunday night while out diving a postal truck when the vehicle rolled into a ditch north of Clear Lake.

On July 7, 2024, at 8:09 PM, the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office responded to 330th Street and Juniper Avenue for a single vehicle collision. The driver, 24-year-old Daimelys Antunez of Clear Lake, was driving a US Postal Truck west on 330th Street when the vehicle lost control. The vehicle rolled into the ditch and Antunez sustained minor injury.

Antunez was transported to MercyOne NI by the Mason City Fire Department.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Worth County Sheriff’s Office, Mason City Fire Department, and Hanlontown Fire Department.
