Born November 15, 1968, in Mason City, Wendy was the youngest daughter of Walter “Hart” and Leola (Sturm) Johnson. She graduated from Mason City High School before attending North Iowa Area Community College, where she prepared for a career as a medical assistant.
Wendy devoted many years to serving patients at Mercy, earning a reputation as a talented phlebotomist who cared deeply about the people she encountered. She took pride in doing her job well and treating others with compassion.
In 2023, Wendy began working at Snap-on in Algona. Her determination, dependability and strong work ethic quickly became apparent, and she formed meaningful friendships with her co-workers.
Wendy possessed a memorable personality and was never hesitant to speak her mind or defend someone she loved. Her strong will was matched by a generous heart. She routinely offered her time and support to others, often placing their needs ahead of her own.
Family remained the center of Wendy’s life. She was a devoted mother and an especially proud grandmother. Her granddaughter, Jemma, brought her tremendous happiness, and Wendy made every effort to attend her activities, cheer for her and offer help whenever it was needed. Their close relationship was one of Wendy’s greatest joys.
She also enjoyed the everyday pleasures of life, including playing Words with Friends and spending time with her beloved dogs, Zena and Tucker.
Wendy will be remembered as someone her family and friends could depend upon—whether they needed encouragement, practical help or simply the comfort of knowing she was there. Her courage, kindness and determination left a lasting impression on the many people whose lives she touched.
