MASON CITY – Police officers in Mason City encountered a naked man during a domestic incident – who allegedly made lewd gestures and spit on them – and he’s been sentenced to jail.

Mason City police were called to the 400 block of Prairie Court NE at 5:24 AM on March 29, 2019. The initial report was that a male was being aggressive towards his girlfriend, police tell NIT. When officers arrived, they encountered 22-year-old Gregor Sage. Sage was uncooperative with their attempts to resolve the situation and to speak with his girlfriend, police say.

“At one point, Sage was naked and exposed himself to officers in a suggestive manner,” that was the basis for a charge of indecent exposure, a police spokesman explained.

“Sage resisted the officers’ attempts to take him into custody and was noncompliant,” the spokesman continued. “Officers were able to get Sage into custody. While being escorted to a patrol vehicle he spit on two of our officers. That resulted in an assault charge.” He was also charged with interference with official acts.

Sage was taken to jail and posted $500 cash bond on April 1, records show.

Sage later pled guilty to two counts of assault on persons in certain occupations and was given 2 weeks in jail and 2 years of probation. The charge of indecent exposure appears to have been dropped, as was the charge of interference with official acts.
