DES MOINES – This suspect in a gruesome Fort Dodge shooting has been on the lam for days, until a tip helped cops in Iowa’s capitol city introduce him to the justice system.
Fort Dodge police say that over the past several days, investigators have continued to gather information, speak to witnesses, all while continuing to search multiple locations throughout the Fort Dodge area for Dontay B. Diekman (pictured at top). He is wanted in connection to a March 28 shooting in which a victim took a bullet to the face.
At approximately 10:47 AM on April 11, a tip came to police that Diekman was currently at 1530 20th Place in Des Moines. Officers with the Des Moines Police Department responded, and made entry into the residence.
Diekman was taken into custody on the following charges:
– Attempt to Commit Murder (B Felony)
– Going Armed with Intent (D Felony)
– Possession of Firearm as Felon (D Felony)
Although an arrest has been made, the investigation is still on-going, police said.
The Fort Dodge Police Department thanked the Des Moines Police Department, the Altoona Police Department, as well as any other agencies that assisted in taking the suspect into custody safely.
