MASON CITY — Herminia “Minnie” Loera Flores, 94, of Mason City, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 8, at Epiphany Parish – Holy Family Catholic Church, 722 N. Adams Ave. in Mason City.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., one hour before the service at the church.
Inurnment will take place at a later date at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery in Mason City.
Minnie was born April 25, 1932, the daughter of Luis and Angela Loera.
Over the course of her 94 years, Minnie built a life centered around the family members and friends who became part of her world.
She married Albert Flores and became part of a large family whose roots extended throughout Mason City and North Iowa.
Minnie was the mother of Louie Flores and stepmother to Joe Flores, Steve Flores, Margaret Rodgers, Stella Cumming, Dan Flores and Anita Flores.
As the years passed, her family continued to grow through marriages, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended relatives, giving Minnie generations of loved ones with whom to share her life.
Her son, Louie, was a longtime Mason City resident who preceded her in death in 2010.
Minnie experienced the loss of numerous loved ones during her long life, including her husband, Albert; son, Louie Flores; stepson, Steve Flores; children-in-law Nancy Flores, Marci Flores and Jeff Cumming; and siblings Lucio, Eufemio, Antonia and Anselma.
Those left to cherish her memory include her stepchildren Joe Flores, Margaret (Dick) Rodgers, Stella Cumming, Dan (Joni) Flores and Anita Flores (Shaun); her brother, Filemon (Zaragoza) of Ignacio; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Luis and Angela Loera.
