AMES – An Iowa man who owns a business and works as a nurse secretly recorded youths and now faces sexual exploitation charges.
Ames Police received a report from a concerned citizen regarding potential child sexual abuse. Detectives from the Ames Police Department executed search warrants at the residence and businesses of Carl D. Markley, age 44, of Ames, IA – who is reportedly a nurse. After an extensive investigation, Markley has been arrested and charged with the following.
• Sexual Exploitation of a Minor-Cause to Engage in Act, a class C felony, Iowa Code section 728.12(1)
Reportedly, Markley used covert means to record his victims and then stored the images on devices found at his business and home. Allegedly, a victim claims Markley required a physical examination to be performed on them to be employed at his business.
The Ames Police Department continues to investigate.
