By Peter Children –

We need to set a record for voting in this city election, never before has it been this important.

WE HAVE A REAL VIRUS IN THIS CITY
AND IF LEFT UNTREATED IT COULD PROVE
FATAL TO THE WORKING CLASS.

That virus is Eric Bookmeyer. This city is under siege, infected with one of those super bugs that is hard to get rid of. The only known cure is found by voting.

Please vote.

Lets set a goal of reaching 8,000 votes in this election.  Ask your friends if they have voted, offer to drive them to vote. I can attest to this personally, after I voted I felt wonderful, in many ways it brought great gratification knowing what I did could help all of us.

Lets set a record and rid our city of this nightmare.

Peter – the real virus is the one characterized in op-eds such as yours. It only demonstrates a mud-slinging divisive negativity driven by personal antagonism towards the current office holders.
I work therefore I am amongst the “working class” and I don’t think the current administration in Mason City is going to be fatal to my status. Knock off you college day “storm the barricades” vitriol.
You have yet to offer up any workable solutions to problems that you have also failed to define.

Look lets not bullshit each other, lets call it what it is. I have extended Bookmweyer two invitations to lunch, he rejected both times. He has been in hiding for Christ’s sake for the past two weeks bercause he can’t face the public. YOU THINK MAYBE HE STAYED HOME BECAUSE HE’S GOT A BAD COLD? You can’t be serious. You pussy foot around this guy and he’ll eat you for lunch. This election is extremely important to the working class in this city. 4 years and not one high paying job, none. I should be careful not to offend him maybe?

creating jobs and bring in factories is not my job discription. I am not into politics. I live here and pay taxes like the rest of you. I find Eric Bookmeyer to be a very bad joke.

Peter – why would Bookmeyer go to lunch with you? I doubt he is hiding as he presumably knows your stance and lack of objectivity so any pretense of visiting with a “journalist” would be useless.
Furthermore you simply fail to grasp the concept that a city government is quite restricted as to what it can do to attract new businesses as they only have the same box of goodies that all other cities have to use. No amount of pounding on a mayor or council will change that.
At the end of the day your invective has backfired as all — ALL — the incumbents were reelected so it appears you were flat wrong.

It really does give you a good feeling to vote. If I miss an election for some reason I always feel guilty, like I didn’t do my part. Try it. You’ll like it.

You felt wonderful? Had I voted for obama I would have felt sick!

If you had voted at all you might know how he feels.

I already feel good about NOT voting for a tyrant!!

@just-if you don’t vote then don’t bitch when things don’t go your way.

Good article Peter. VOTE, VOTE, VOTE.
