Sydney was a bright shining light when she entered the world on December 18, 1997 in Mason City the daughter of Jacqueline Miller. Sydney had many challenges in her life as she was diagnosed at an early age with Cystic Fibrosis and had recently undergone a double lung transplant in July 2011. Her tenacious drive to get well only kept her in the hospital for 34 days this time. Her challenges in life didn’t slow Sydney down in any way. When she was younger she bowled in league, fished with her dad prior to her getting so sick. Sydney received her Elementary education at Washington Elementary and was currently a Middle School student in Charles City. She was so proud when she got her drivers permit and often drove part of the way to the hospitals when she went for check ups. She enjoyed softball, soccer, being an honorary member of the Comet Cheerleaders. She tired easily but always, always tried to do things that her friends would do. Following her surgery she was finally able to hang out with her friends, attending movies, roller skating at the “Y”, face booking, listening to her IPOD, reading and writing stories on Watt Pad. She kept up in her school work with the help of many teachers and the computer, leaning towards math and science as her favorites. While in the hospital she became so close to the nurses and staff. She was able through the generosity of others to meet Toby Keith and attend as a special guest at one of his concerts. He even called her one time while on the road. She met the Iowa Hawkeye football team and the girls basketball team, met Coach Daly and some players of the St. Louis Rams and country star Trace Adkins.

Even though her life was not long it was a full life that she shared with her mom Jacqueline and her special dad Michael Dietrich, her dad Terry Miller, her wonderful bigger sisters Brittany (Donald) Vincent, of Charles City; sister Samantha Rucker, Mason City; Barbara Shreve, Charles City, nieces Hayden, Alexis, Dezerea, Evee, Gabriella, Papa and Nana, Darrell and Jo-Ann Schmidt, many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins and her Bischon Frise Bo-Bo.

Sydney’s paternal Grandparents Ed and Rose Miller, And maternal great-grandparents Ransom and Jennie Bouillon, Dorothy and Clarence Schmidt, Godfather Clete Welter preceded her in death.
