HUMBOLDT – A Northern Iowa woman lost her life in a tragic accident Monday morning on an ice-covered road when her Jeep Grand Cherokee collided with a semi truck.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, an auto collision took place on Monday, November 10, 2025, in Humboldt, Iowa. At 7:44 AM that morning, 60-year-old Debora Lei Ruberg was driving her 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee at the intersection of Highway 3 and State Avenue in Humboldt. The Patrol claims Ruberg, traveling westbound on Highway 3, lost control of her Jeep due to snow and ice on the roadway and entered the eastbound lane and then was struck by an eastbound 2016 Freightliner tractor trailer, driven by 37-year-old Austin Lee Van Klompe of Maurice, Iowa.
As a result of the collision, Ruberg was ejected from the Jeep and killed.
Humboldt authorities assisted the Patrol at the scene.
