Forum to discuss sex trafficking to be held at NIACC

MASON CITY – A forum to discuss sex trafficking will be held at NIACC next week.

According to an email describing the event, those attending the forum will “find out about a form of modern day slavery happening in Iowa. From online ads, to escort services and strip clubs to local businesses and public events, human trafficking is big business and present in Iowa. Women and children are suffering unimaginable terror at the hands of their captors and vile abuse by those who pay to abuse them. Learn the facts and join the fight.”

The forum will be held Thursday, November 7th, 2013, from 6-8pm in the Beem Center, Room Number BC200.

The forum panel will include:

Michael Ferjak,M.A., Senior Criminal Investigator, Iowa Dept. of Justice-Office of the Attorney General

Captain Curt Henderson, DPS Communications officer

Mary Ingham, Women’s Crisis Intervention Center

Lt. Stearns, Mason City Police Dept.
