WATERLOO – A man found dead in the Cedar River in Waterloo after a police search.
On Friday, June 10, 2022 at approximately 6:29 PM, Waterloo Police and Fire Rescue responded to a report of a person in the Cedar River. Dispatch had taken a report of a Hispanic male entering the river, leaving a shirt behind on the water’s edge. Waterloo Fire Rescue began a search and rescue operation, but did not locate anyone. Police asked the public to look at a photo of the shirt as a clue.
Then, on Monday June 13, 2022, Waterloo Fire Rescue deployed boats in the Cedar River to continued their efforts in locating the missing male. At approximately 2:14 PM, Fire Rescue called in a location of a body they had found in the Cedar River; the person was evidently deceased.
The name of the victim is being withheld, pending family notification.
Police say at this time no foul play is being suspected.
