MILFORD — Mark “Jack” Zweibahmer, 71, of Milford, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 8, at Downtown Church, 2105 N Avenue in Milford. Interment will follow at Milford Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday, September 7, at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Jack’s family.
Jack was born September 14, 1954, in West Union to Cyril and Ruth Heldt Zweibahmer. He graduated from Milford High School and remained closely connected to the community throughout his life.
On November 29, 1975, Jack married Sally Branstetter in Milford. Their marriage would span more than 50 years, with family becoming the foundation of the life they built together.
Jack began his working career at the House of Sight and Sound and later achieved his dream of owning and operating the business himself, doing so for 10 years. He later worked in sales at Motor Inn of Spirit Lake.
The work suited a man who genuinely enjoyed people. Jack was known for his friendly personality, strong work ethic and easy ability to strike up a conversation. His smile and welcoming nature helped turn customers and acquaintances into friends.
Away from work, Jack was an enthusiastic Iowa Hawkeyes fan, but the teams closest to his heart were always those involving his own children and grandchildren.
He rarely missed their games and took tremendous pride in following their accomplishments. When circumstances kept him from attending, family members could expect Jack to be among the first to call after the game and hear exactly what happened.
Jack also enjoyed traveling with those he loved. Trips to Puerto Vallarta and Las Vegas were among the adventures he particularly enjoyed, but the destination mattered less than having an opportunity to spend time with family and make another memory together.
Jack is survived by his wife, Sally; children Cory (Kim) Zweibahmer of Milford, Amber Bellville of Ankeny, Hayley (Nick) Mauer of Lake View and Chelsea (Scott) Busche of Ankeny; and grandchildren Kaden and Kinzlee Zweibahmer, Scott, Zac and Lilia Bellville, Grayson and Elin Mauer, and Declan and Lincoln Busche.
He is also survived by his brother, Chuck (Joy) Zweibahmer; sister, Kathy Eilers; brothers-in-law Keith Branstetter, Jerry (DeeDee) Branstetter and Carl Dryer; sisters-in-law MaryAnn Zweibahmer, Lucy (Tony) Smith and Fran Conklin; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Cyril and Ruth; siblings Dick Zweibahmer and Patty Zweibahmer; mother-in-law Kay Branstetter; sister-in-law Pauline Branstetter; brothers-in-law Steve Branstetter, David Dryer and Bob Eilers; and nephew Kirk Eilers.
Those closest to Jack will remember a devoted husband, father and grandfather whose pride in his family was never difficult to see. His energy, familiar pacing, kind heart, infectious smile and the friendships he built along the way leave lasting memories for the many people whose lives crossed his.
