Daniel A. Van Note, 74, Garner, remembered for his North Iowa roots and years at Winnebago Industries

GARNER — Daniel A. Van Note, 74, of Garner, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2026, at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center. In accordance with Dan’s wishes, cremation will take place. No visitation or funeral services are planned.

GARNER — Daniel A. Van Note, 74, of Garner, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2026, at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center.

In accordance with Dan’s wishes, cremation will take place. No visitation or funeral services are planned.

Daniel Allen Van Note was born July 29, 1952, in Mason City, the son of Allen and Arlys (Grell) Van Note.

He grew up in Garner and graduated from Garner-Hayfield High School in 1970. Dan continued making his home in Garner throughout his adult life.

His working years also kept him close to his North Iowa roots. Dan spent most of his career employed at Winnebago Industries in Forest City, connecting his life to the Mason City, Garner and Forest City communities.

Those left to remember Dan include his sister, Dena Mauch of Ankeny; niece, Tiffany; and special friend, Becky Schnebly of Forest City.

He was preceded in death by his father, Allen, on September 30, 1987, and his mother, Arlys, on March 31, 2013.
