ST. ANSGAR — Lillian Arlene Warrington, 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 4, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
A celebration of Lillian’s life was held Monday, September 14, 2026, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar. Burial followed at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
Lillian was born on October 21, 1937, to Carl and Nettie (Halverson) Stromley. She grew up as one of 13 children.
On March 15, 1958, Lillian married Larry Warrington. Together, they created a loving home and raised four children: Karen, Joann, Steve and Kenneth.
Lillian was a hardworking and dedicated woman throughout her life. She worked as a cook, waitress and baker at Marge’s Café before joining Fossy’s Market, where she worked at the meat counter. She later worked in housekeeping for the Good Samaritan Society.
Outside of work, Lillian enjoyed refinishing furniture, knitting, crocheting, sewing and needlework. She was also an accomplished baker and an enthusiastic fan of college football.
Family and friends were at the center of Lillian’s life. Visitors could count on finding a hot pot of coffee waiting for them whenever they stopped by. Her welcoming nature, generosity and devotion to those she loved made her home a special gathering place.
Lillian is survived by her children, Karen (Mark) Leach, Joann Hemann and Steven (Pat) Warrington; grandchildren, Heather (Marcus), Amanda, Victoria, Zachary (Nicole), Jason (Kara), Jake and Tanner (Ashley); great-grandchildren, Carter, Olivia, Layla, Raelynn, Kayson, Presley, William, Hazel, Neal and Lane; sisters, Betty (David) Tolefson and Diane Petznick; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Nettie; son, Kenneth Warrington; sisters, Loretta (Ira) Hofland, Rose (Ray) Rieko, Ruth (Darrel) Patterson, Inez (Francis) Homez, Gladys (Arnie) Groth, Jane (Gern) Rieman and Louise (Bob) McPhail; and brothers, Orville Stromley, Kenneth Stromley and Carl (Jackie) Stromley Jr.
Lillian will be remembered for her kindness, generous spirit, strong work ethic and unwavering love for her family and friends.
