WALCOTT — An Iowa motorcyclist was critically injured after he apparently ran a stop sign, entered a mobile home park and slammed into two parked vehicles early Saturday morning.
The Scott Emergency Communication Center received a 911 call at approximately 3:27 a.m. September 5 reporting a motorcycle crash at the Walcott Mobile Home Park, 781 West Walcott Road.
Investigators said a purple 2002 Kawasaki ZR750 was traveling south on 60th Avenue toward Walcott. That portion of the roadway is a paved, two-lane highway located just south of the Walcott truck stop in Scott County.
The motorcycle appears to have traveled through the intersection of 60th Avenue and 200th Street without stopping at the posted stop sign. It continued directly into the mobile home park and struck two parked vehicles.
The force of the collisions ejected the motorcyclist, who was found in a nearby yard.
Authorities identified the motorcycle’s sole occupant as a 24-year-old Davenport man. His name was not immediately released.
Emergency personnel treated the man at the scene before MedForce Aeromedical Transport flew him to a University of Iowa hospital in Iowa City. He remained in critical condition when authorities issued their latest update.
The Scott County Sheriff’s Office, Scott Emergency Communications Center, Scott County Medic EMS, Iowa State Patrol, Walcott Fire Department and MedForce Aeromedical Transport assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Scott County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Team.
