NORTHWOOD — The Worth County Board of Supervisors approved more than $422,000 in drainage district assessments during its regular meeting on July 6, 2026.

Supervisors Mark Smeby and A.J. Stone were present for the meeting, while Supervisor Enos Loberg was absent. Stone called the meeting to order, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. The board then approved the agenda and the minutes from the June 29, 2026 meeting.

The major action of the morning was approval of Resolution 2026-24, a resolution to levy assessments against Worth County drainage districts with outstanding warrants and claims and insufficient funds to cover those accounts.

The assessments total $422,509 and will be levied against lands, real estate, highways and railroads in the affected districts. The largest assessment listed was $187,696 for Drainage District 14 Lower Main, followed by $38,110 for DD 14 Lat 5 Tile, $36,791 for DD 14 Lat 4 Tile, and $36,040 for DD 14 Upper Main.

The resolution says the assessments will be collected with taxes payable in 2026. Landowners with a parcel amount due of more than $500 may discuss a payment option by contacting the Worth County Auditor within 30 days of receiving their tax statement.

The board also approved one claim totaling $50,301.82 to Greenfield Contractors Service-CAP.

Supervisors approved the sheriff’s monthly and quarterly reports, approved the ICAP FY2026/2027 renewal authorization, and approved a Chosen Valley Testing cost estimate for a design phase geotechnical evaluation as recommended by Veenstra & Kimm Inc.

The meeting adjourned at 9:07 a.m.
