Vern Dannen, 80, of Plymouth, passes away; services set in Manly

PLYMOUTH — Vern R. Dannen, 80, of Plymouth, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at the Nora Springs Care Center in Nora Springs. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 PM Monday, July 13, 2026, also at Bethel United Methodist Church in Manly.

PLYMOUTH — Vern R. Dannen, 80, of Plymouth, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at the Nora Springs Care Center in Nora Springs.

Vern was born July 24, 1945, the son of Else O. and Irene V. Dannen. His passing is being mourned by family, friends and others who knew him throughout Plymouth, Manly, Mason City and the surrounding North Iowa area.

Family was central in Vern’s life. He is survived by his wife, Janelle Dannen; his children, Amy Stoeffler and her husband, Shad, of Mason City, Kari Pate and her husband, Bill, of Manly, and Aaron Dannen and his wife, Lindsey, of Manly. He also leaves behind grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters, in-laws and extended family members who will carry forward his memory.

Vern was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Duane “Pete” Dannen and Ron Dannen; his parents-in-law, Robert and Dawn Lutz; and other loved ones.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Bethel United Methodist Church, 503 East South Street in Manly.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 PM Monday, July 13, 2026, also at Bethel United Methodist Church in Manly.

Memorials may be directed to Vern’s family to be given in his name.
