CLEAR LAKE — A rural Clear Lake man was hauled to jail Saturday after a disturbance investigation led Cerro Gordo County deputies to execute a search warrant and allegedly uncover multiple firearms offenses.

Deputies were called at approximately 3:36 p.m. on July 12, 2026, to a reported disturbance at 7648 230th Street in rural Clear Lake.

During the investigation, deputies obtained and executed a search warrant at the residence. Authorities said evidence gathered during the search led to the arrest of 44-year-old Eric Matthew Morf (pictured at top).

Morf was charged with violation of a no-contact or protective order, possession of a firearm or offensive weapon by a domestic abuse offender, trafficking in stolen weapons and possession of an unregistered firearm suppressor.

The firearm-related offenses are Class D felonies under Iowa law.

Cerro Gordo County Jail records show Morf was booked at 6:49 p.m. on July 12 under intake number 01400595. The jail listed charges under Iowa Code sections 664A.7(1) for contempt involving violation of a no-contact or protective order and 724.26(2)(a) for possession of a firearm or offensive weapon by a domestic abuse offender.

Morf was being held without bond until appearing before a magistrate.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges could be filed as more information becomes available.

Morf is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
