Robert “Bob” R. Mills was born December 22, 1942 in Correctionville, IA to Raymond and Ada (Kissenger) Mills. He attended country school, later graduating from Correctionville High School. Following graduation, Bob worked for a local farmer before beginning at Safeway in Sioux City. This job would take him to Mason City in 1970, and in 1971 he moved to Northwood. Soon after he began his 50 year trucking career working with various companies before his retirement in 2021 from Wess Trucking.

Bob was united in marriage to Judale Schutz on April 1, 1973 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. To this union three sons were born: Chad, Corey and Toby.

Bob found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He looked forward to NWTF and Pheasants Forever banquets and thoroughly enjoyed time with his sons at semi shows. Away from the highways, Bob and his wife, Judale, transformed an acreage into a home, a testament to his unwavering work ethic. Armed with his trusty “Bad Boy”, he sculpted the overgrown landscape into a meticulously cared-for lawn. Ever the weather watcher, Bob kept a vigilant eye on the forecast, ensuring his family was prepared for approaching storms. In his shop, he found solace putzing around, working on projects with his sons and grandchildren and their various 4H projects. Bob’s friendly nature and ability to strike up a chat with anyone ensured that he left new friends wherever he went. His love for his family was evident in the simple things – a good pocket knife, a well-worn hat, or an extra pair of gloves – reminders that will forever echo his enduring presence in their lives.

“I won’t say another word…”

Bob is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judale; three sons, Chad of Northwood, Corey (Ruby) of Austin, MN and Toby (Jenny) of Mason City; grandchildren, Tyler and Justin Mills; Dawson Mills; Pita and Mia Carrion; Kaitlyn, Regan and Jewel Mills, a grandchild due in June and Loren Fierova; his sister, Mildred Harrison of Bellevue, NE; brother, Dennis Mills of Lawton, IA; sisters-in-law, Nalda Zipse and Lanelle Lawson; brothers-in-law, Dennis Schutz and Joe Lawson; along with many nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; mother and father; a brother in infancy; daughter-in-law, Kathryn Mills; brothers-in-law, Steve Schutz, Glennys Schutz, Larry Harrison and John Zipse.
