CEDAR RAPIDS – Cedar Rapids Police arrested two individuals on Monday, November 20, 2023, following a vehicle and a foot chase.
At approximately 2:27 PM that day, patrol officers attempted to stop a vehicle in the 800 block of 1st St SW. The vehicle, driven by 22-year-old Katilyn Whiting, briefly eluded officers and crossed the 8th Avenue Bridge. The suspect vehicle made contact with at least one uninvolved vehicle and stopped near the intersection of 8th Ave and 6th St SE. When the suspect vehicle stopped, 21-year-old Martavius Northern attempted to flee on foot but was quickly caught by CRPD officers.
The uninvolved vehicle was occupied at the time and an occupant suffered minor injuries.
Kaitlyn Whiting will face charges of eluding and other traffic-related crimes.
Martavius Northern (pictured above) had outstanding warrants for robbery 1st and carrying weapons.
Both were booked at the Linn County Correctional Center and both may face additional charges related to this pursuit.
