Ila Grace Wangsness, 93, of Allison, dies; family honors a life rooted in faith, family and North Iowa

ALLISON — Ila Grace Wangsness, 93, of Allison, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Elm Springs in Allison. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, June 29, 2026, at St. James Lutheran Church in Allison. Burial will follow at Allison Cemetery.

ALLISON — Ila Grace Wangsness, 93, of Allison, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Elm Springs in Allison.

Born August 14, 1932, in Decorah, Ila spent her early years in northeast Iowa and graduated from Decorah High School in 1950. She later worked as a telephone operator, part of a generation whose steady work and care helped connect families and communities long before today’s instant technology.

Ila’s life is being remembered through her family, faith and the community ties she built over many years in North Iowa. Her passing brings sorrow to loved ones, but also gratitude for the memories, lessons and legacy she leaves behind.

A public visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Woodley Funeral Home in Allison.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, June 29, 2026, at St. James Lutheran Church in Allison. Burial will follow at Allison Cemetery.
